Boko Haram Crisis - Igbo Threatens to Leave Borno, Close Business Premises

The Members of the Igbo community in Maiduguri, Borno State capital have promised to embark on massive exodus back to their respective states in protest of the continuous killing of their kinsmen across the state by the men believed to be Boko Haram tyrants.
Igbo Welfare Association (IWA), umbrella body of the entire Igbo in the state, has instructed all its members to close all their business premises for an indefinite period of time even as it placed a fine of N50, 000 upon any defaulting member.

Both the exodus threat and closure of business premises, was in protest of the recent killings of Igbo in the state by men believed to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram. So far, five members of the Igbo community have been murdered in cold blood since December.
Addressing a press conference at the NUJ House, Maiduguri, President of IWA, Prince Nnaka Okereke, said in the recent weeks, some armed gangs have embarked on ethnic cleansing mission by selectively killing the Igbo, both at home and in their in their business premises.
