NPL Approves Optional Venues

In its effort to ensure league matches are played on 'photovisual'  friendly pitches, the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has thereby approved alternative venues for four Premier League clubs for their home matches.

This statement was signed by the  Acting Executive Secretary; Mr. Tunji Babalola, who acclaimed that, some of the affected clubs have had to relocate to alternative venues as a result of the bad state of their pitches;
Speaking with news men the Acting Secretary added that, the NPL has approved the relocation of these clubs until further notice.

Based on the above reasons, Heartland FC of Owerri will now be playing its subsequent home matches at the E.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, while Kaduna Township Stadium would be hosting both JUTH FC and Niger Tornadoes FC home matches. Plateau United would play its own home matches at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Meanwhile, NPL has also noted with displeasure at the inability of some clubs to check the unruly behaviour of their fans/supporters and the intimidation and harassment of match officials, club officials/players before, during and after matches.

The NPL's acting Executive Secretary; Mr. Tunji Babalola warned that the body was now ready to enforce relevant provisions of the Rules and Regulations governing the league in order to stamp out the unruly acts.
