Education Minister Directs WAEC to Adjust Time Table

The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa'i, on Thursday in Abuja, directed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to adjust its examinations time-table to suit the elections.
The Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Alhaji Aliyu Othman, who gave the directive in a statement, said the directive was necessary because of the concern of parents over the clash of the election with some examinations, earlier scheduled for April 26.

"WAEC needs to amend its time-table to avoid any clash with the adjusted Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) time-table for the governorship and houses of assembly elections," he said.

Othman said that WAEC was also negotiating with sister countries, saying that the countries had expressed their willingness to adjust their examination time-table to support the conduct of Nigeria's elections.
